About Yvonne

I have been a private tutor for over 30 years. While this might seem like a long time to some it has flown by quickly.

When I first started junior college pre-algebra was a puzzle for me. I was 18 at the time. I hate to admit I did not do very well. I failed it three times in a row. Life happened. I got married, then divorced, When I decided to return to school I realized I needed math to go on to a university-level class. I started this time in Algebra. I was getting it but I wasn't getting it all the way. It was then I realized I needed more help. I went to the on-campus tutoring center. This is what changed my life.
I applied to become a tutor. I was hired. During the time I tutored, I was also taking classes from one of the best teachers I have ever had the pleasure to have as my instructor. It is his style that I pattern my teaching style after.
I have taught in private school and enjoy teaching.
I want to assure everyone if I can learn they also can learn. What it takes is someone who has the patience and knowledge to help others. Everyone can learn. Belief in yourself is important.
I have been accused of being a cheerleader. I suppose I am. I will be a student's cheerleader until they no longer need one. Everyone needs help now and then. I can help.

About the lesson

I have been a private tutor for over 30 years. I have been doing this for a very long time. I do not make people sign long-term contracts. I do not do pre-testing. When I sit down with my students and talk with them I get a good idea of what they might need, what is lacking, and where I can help them build their strengths.
In a session, if we have time, I teach them ahead of where they are. Walking into a classroom knowing what will be taught helps to build self-confidence. I also help them with remedial work, giving help to remember those things that have gone by the wayside, if needed.
Each student is unique. My lessons are not cookie-cutter lessons. Each lesson is styled for the person I am working with.
All lessons are written down in English along with full explanations.
I work with my students on their homework. I do not talk down to my students. I talk with them and help them identify problems them are encountering.
