About Maria
Teaching guitar helps me balance the raw curiosity of learning by ear with the rigid discipline of formal music theory. Most people assume that technical speed is the goal of music, but I find that composition is the real reason to pick up an instrument. My approach pulls from 8 years of teaching students how to move past simple tabs and into the world of scales, modes, and ear training.
Working with songwriters allows me to focus on acoustic technique and lead guitar concepts that actually serve a song rather than just showing off. Whether we are dealing with basic tuning and maintenance or complex improvisation, I keep the process grounded in your creative output. Personally, I still love the feeling of finding a melody that finally fits the lyrics I have been writing.

You will start by showing me a song idea that feels incomplete. We immediately look at the fretboard as a blank canvas for your creative voice.
I use my 13 years of gigging experience to help you rearrange chords for maximum impact. Guitar theory is simple here.
You learn the mechanics of soloing through the lens of your own music. We skip the boring drills.
Every minute is spent building your specific sound. Playing music should be fun. It is satisfying to hear your own composition come together in real time.
