About Scarlett
Technique should always serve the soul of the music. To be direct, I view the instrument as an extension of the human voice rather than just a machine.
We will spend time on acoustic technique and improvisation while working through formal grade exam materials. 11 years of experience has shown me that patience is the greatest teacher. I incorporate elements of the Chilean nueva-cancion tradition into my daily instruction. Practice is necessary.
We handle everything from basic electric solos to reading sheet music. My teaching stays rooted in the traditions I learned while gigging for over a decade. I hope you find the same clarity in these lessons that I do. The path to fluency happens one note at a time.

Playing guitar for 11 years has granted me a deep understanding of the instrument and the history of Latin folk music. Honestly, I find that my degree in music often matters less than the hours spent gigging in clubs across Australia. I have worked with 420 students ranging from young children to intermediate players seeking technical rigor.
My practice covers blues progressions and electric technique alongside essential maintenance and tuning. Ear training and sight reading remain at the core of how I work with my students. It is quite rewarding to see a student grasp the nuance of complex fingerpicking patterns. I simply enjoy the slow process of building a musical foundation from the ground up.
