I was a national sales manager for many years, but fifteen years ago I moved from Connecticut to Ocala, FL to teach high school. I taught English, AP Literature, U.S. History, and Economics. I then retired from teaching to write the (award winning) novel that had been in my head for 40 years.

The first step as a tutor is to listen and let the student describe what he or she considers to be weaknesses in the subject. By just chatting back and forth, we not only develop a rapport but we also give ourselves a great start! The approach in teaching a class is much the same. I love to teach creative writing as well as how to read a work and find the "breadcrumbs" authors leave for the reader.
