About Mase

Years of Experience:

- Two years as a writing tutor at Kennebec Valley Community College in Fairfield, Maine. I primarily assisted international students with their writing and language processes but was also tasked with idea generation on multiple occasions.

- Two years as a program director for a junior high theatre company. This included introducing preteens and young teens to dramatic literature and creative writing.

- Worked as a writing and math tutor for a close family friend for several months before moving to New England.

About the lesson

Hi there! My approaches to teaching have always centered on inclusivity, collaboration, and compassion. My priority is, first and foremost, to make sure that you feel safe and comfortable to ask any questions — so this means that we co-create an open and affirming environment together and, if you'd like, our lesson plan together!

As someone who has ADHD and other processing challenges, I'm proud to say that I have accommodations for my undergrad assignments. And I have immense empathy for all students with similar experiences and would be happy to share methodologies that have worked for my reading/writing improvement.

In previous years, I've worked as a writing tutor and language assistant as well as a program director for a junior high theatre company, which means I'm very open to all types of learning and diverse ways of approaching any learning barrier that arises during our sessions.

Lastly, I believe in the power of what a growth mindset can do for students of any age. So I will encourage students to keep going even when they feel like they're not capable and will never shame them for not knowing something or for needing to revisit a problem.
