About Chloe

Learn from someone who has been doing it for 30+ years

I’m a practising graphic designer with over 30 years of professional experience, and I’ve been teaching alongside my design practice for much of that time.

I’ve worked across a wide range of graphic design, from visual identity and typography to digital design, print, information design and creative strategy. I also teach creative process, because good design isn’t just about knowing which buttons to press. It’s about learning how to think, make decisions and develop your own eye.

I’m experienced, but I’m not particularly interested in making learning feel formal or intimidating. My teaching is friendly, straightforward and collaborative. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, trying things, getting things wrong and figuring things out.

Whether you’re completely new to graphic design, studying it already or simply want to get better at something specific, I’ll meet you where you are and help you move forward.

About the lesson

I teach graphic design through a combination of practical making, critical thinking and conversation. I believe the medium is part of the message, so rather than simply teaching people how to use design tools, I’m interested in helping them understand why a design works, what it communicates and how to make purposeful choices.

I teach across a range of graphic design disciplines, adapting the content to suit the person, their interests and what they want to achieve. That might mean working on a particular project, developing visual ideas, improving design skills or simply learning how to look at and think about design differently.

My approach is informal, practical and collaborative. I like to work through real examples and actual projects rather than relying too heavily on theory. I’ll explain things clearly, ask questions, challenge ideas when useful and help students develop their own judgement and confidence.

Lessons are typically around one hour, although this can be adapted depending on the student and the project.

I’ve been working professionally as a graphic designer for over 30 years and have taught alongside my design practice throughout that time. I have extensive experience teaching creative process and graphic design to people at different stages, from those just starting out to more experienced students looking to develop their practice.

Lessons are suitable for beginners, students, aspiring designers and anyone looking to develop their graphic design skills or creative thinking. I’m happy to adapt the level and focus to suit the individual.
