About Simon
I'm knowledgable about the latest coding trends and technologies, about the wider industry and about the commercial aspects of web development and engineering. When it comes to technology, I like to help people understand the fundamentals of what's happening under-the-hood, by leveraging their development environments and tooling to observe their systems effectively and gain insights into their inner workings. I also enjoy sharing knowledge and best practises on performance, security, user experience and accessibility.
Outside of computers I enjoy music, woodwork, cooking and running :)

I've been mentoring junior members of staff at the design and development agencies I've worked at for two decades. In that time have developed a positive, friendly and effective approach to helping them become better programmers.
In terms of curriculum I would aim to specifically tailor that to the individual I was working with. A good approach is often to pick a project to build, and use that as a way to work through technologies and coding practises. That could be as simple as a text-based quiz, or something more advanced like a time-tabling web app. In the past I've done remote mentoring sessions lasting 30 mins to an hour once or twice a week, with ad-hoc support over messaging as needed.
