I am a Senior Software Engineer with over 10 years of experience building production-grade systems for leading scientific organisations, including CERN and EMBL-EBI in Cambridge. Throughout my career, I have worked on complex, data-driven platforms used by researchers and professionals worldwide, taking projects from initial design all the way to deployment and long-term maintenance.

Alongside my professional work, I have always enjoyed teaching and mentoring. During my time at university, I worked as a lecturer and teaching assistant, supporting students from different backgrounds and helping them understand technical concepts in a clear and structured way. In my professional career, I have also mentored junior developers and collaborators, guiding them until they were able to confidently contribute to real-world projects.

I am passionate about making programming accessible and understandable. I focus on breaking down complex ideas into simple, practical steps, and adapting my explanations to each student’s level and pace. Whether you are just starting out or looking to deepen your skills, my goal is to help you gain confidence and become an independent problem solver.

About the lesson

I take a practical, structured approach to teaching programming, focused on helping students truly understand concepts and apply them in real-world scenarios.

My lessons are typically 1 hour long and tailored to each student’s needs and goals. I start with a simple initial assessment, usually a short conversation, to understand your current level, objectives, and preferred learning style. From there, I adapt each session to suit you. I am very patient and make sure we build a solid foundation before moving forward, especially for students who need more time to fully grasp a topic.

I combine theory with hands-on exercises, coding together during the lesson and working on small projects to reinforce learning. I also guide students on how to think like a developer, not just how to write code.

I have over 10 years of professional experience as a software engineer, having worked at organisations such as CERN and EMBL-EBI, and I also have teaching experience from my time as a lecturer and mentor.

My lessons are suitable for beginners, university students, and professionals looking to improve their programming skills, particularly in Python, full stack development, and modern web technologies.
