About Robert

"Rob makes SEO interesting," is a terrific review my students write in SFQ feedback forms, because learning digital marketing can feel overwhelming, and SEO is a complicated subject. I share facts and details which get at the 'why' of things to put the Rules in context. I can remember the first time I found and used Google, in 1999. I used the little bookmark tool on my PC desktop to make a note of the site so I could return and use it again. I've lived through the evolution of everything since and even participated in what we called 'Web 2.0' with a photo contest for SEO Start-Up called Lenzr. As an instructor, I'll go as deep you like, but I strive to stay on topic and mission focused. Superprof is great because most students are on a mission, unlike at College where they seek accreditation. I have a lot of experience as a teacher, and recognize common misunderstandings because I hit every bump in the road when I was learning, and made every mistake possible.

About the lesson

Teaching SEO is my superpower. I have twenty years of experience helping straighten out websites, focus pages, and grow businesses of all sizes in just about every sector. I once operated a photo-contest-for-SEO link-building start-up which I sold to Jib Design agency. I helped grow Toronto's biggest dental brand from 2010 - 2021, as a side hustle.

I teach SEO using the same lesson plan I created for a local college here in Toronto. The first lesson explains how Google organic search actually works, and most students are astonished from that point onwards. Depending on how much SEO marketing knowledge you have, we'll start-at-the-start and I'll explain everything with as much specificity as you can stomach, as we go along. We'll visit a search engine result page and discuss each section, each algorithm. Then we'll look at your own website or your competitor's site (if applicable) and identify all its constituent parts. Then we'll look at a pg3 result and ask 'why is it doing so poorly?'.

SEO is not boring. If you know the basics, search engine audits can be fascinating exercises to determine what's working and why other things aren't working. I like pioneering new tactics and that includes discovering problems and learning how to overcome them (and use them to grow).

My knowledge is deep and if you book ten lessons, I'll impart my own proprietary methods regarding Semantic SEO, and the 'art and science' of creating SEO-focused multi channel marketing funnels. Business owners learn advanced story telling, myth making and meme weaving; learn how to personify companies. Employees and executives can learn how to turn their otherwise tiring SEO reports into archetypal stories: tell exciting business love stories, horror stories, and coming-of-age stories with data.

Like all online shop owners, she hopes to wrangle more visitors from Google, and so our discussions were not strictly an academic exercise. She brought her website to the table and we worked on it together, pinpointing and detailing solutions to problems as we went along, while discussing the fundamentals and advanced SEO concepts as we encountered them.
