About Eva

Hey! My name is Eva, I'm 21 and I'm pursuing a BA in Jazz & Contemporary Music at The New School in NYC. I'm about to start my junior year. I'm a singer, songwriter and aspiring producer. I'm from Lausanne, in Switzerland, and I moved to NYC alone, 2 years ago. I speak English very fluently and French is my native language :) Having grown up in a family of musicians, I have carried music with me since childhood. I've always sang but I started taking voice lessons 9 years ago (never stopped since!), with different teachers, both in Switzerland and New York, such as Sylvie Bourban, Kate Baker, Biti Strauchn & Marlon Saunders. My teachers are exceptional and all have different approaches, which has allowed me to discover many different methods, all of which have helped me develop greatly. With time, hard work and reflection, I learned (& am still learning!) how my voice works, both at an anatomical as well as an emotional level. I learned how to connect it with my body, and I developed my artistry. I've also taken a lot of piano lessons, can accompany myself on the piano since at least 5 years, and would be happy to teach you how to do it if that's something you're interested in! I'm very pedagogical. I taught French and I've been a school tutor for children and teenagers for many years. I'm also very attentive, respectful and gentle person. I know that singing can feel so powerful and relieving, also because it can feel so vulnerable. This is a safe space! That's why I'll always listen to your needs and try to respond to your questions. I'll also always try to make it fun and playful!

About the lesson

My goal is to make you ENJOY singing and learn to LOVE your own beautiful natural voice! But I will also try to teach you: - how to make your voice stronger, brighter and more agile - how to make any song your own and discover what sets you apart as an artist! - how to sing without damaging your vocal cords - how to warm up your voice and body before singing - some keys to sing with emotions and convey it to an audience (that's why music exists after all... :)) - the basics to accompany yourself on piano - how to make basic charts (of covers or your own songs) if you ever want to play with musicians! - & much more!... Of course, what I will teach you will depend on your own personal goals, whether you just want to sing for fun, to try something new, or if you really want to improve your skills and perform occasionally ;) I teach and tutor beginner singers, all ages, all styles welcome! IMPORTANT info: - lessons will happen at The New School, location is 2 blocks from Union Square, where we have access to practice rooms with pianos. - hourly rate is 50$/hour - the half hour is 25$ if it's a better format for you :) - I offer packages of 5 lessons (5h) for 250$ or 10 lessons (10h) for 500$
