About Mitch

Mitchell Baggott is an actor from Birmingham (UK) born in 1993. (All credits on IMDb) He was trained at East 15 Acting School in Essex, London and graduated in 2015. Since then, he has performed in shows on the West End (Hangmen, Martin McDonagh), at the Royal Court Theatre (Primetime), The Globe Theatre (Sam Wanamaker Festival) and in the UK and International Tour (Million Dollar Quartet The Musical); understudying Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. In 2020, he was cast as Sergeant Trotter in the longest-running play on the West End, 'The Mousetrap', and in 2023 he played a French Corporal in Ridley Scott's 'Napoleon', starring Joaquin Phoenix. Now based in Birmingham, he has begun teaching for various academies and conducts singing and acting classes from his home there. He is extremely patient with students and knows that it takes many hours of practice to begin snowballing and become confident. The focus is always on enjoyment, and he encourages his students to pick their own material to work on within the classes. • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

I was born into a very musical family. My father was a singer and my mother a professional dancer. Musicality was very much a part of my childhood, and although I consider the voice itself an instrument, my favourite to play is my acoustic guitar.
  • Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

I enjoy all styles of music, but generally tend to listen to artists who were around long before I was born. Elvis Presley, David Bowie and Bob Dylan are just a few of my favourites.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

A lot of what I do is based on progression. We always try to find songs that can push the voice and stretch the range, but this is done in a gradual and enjoyable way.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

I would imagine string instruments without frets, (Violins etc) are infinitely more difficult than my guitar. But every instrument requires patience and perseverance to master.
  • What are your keys to success?

See above. Patience. Perserverance and trusting the process. Rome was not built in a day as they say.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

I outlined three of my favourites in question 2, but let's throw maybe a Michael Jackson in there. He is arguably the greatest performer of all time; incredible vocals with a huge range, the ability to cover all genres of music and amazing musicality and dance ability. Add to that the mystery and controversy surrounding his personal life and you've got an amazing drinking buddy in the bar!
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

I was lucky enough to be cast in an International tour of the show "Million Dollar Quartet' in 2016, playing a young Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. The ongoing tuition I received over the year and a half tour was second to none, and I thoroughly enjoy using the techniques I mastered during this process to inspire my students in my online lessons.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I would hope my extensive experience in professional performance makes my time and knowledge valuable to all levels of student. I have worked in many mediums and all over the world, and I use these experiences to fuel my lessons with as much passion and insight as possible.
