About Chantël
Art has been a lifelong journey for me—a way to process emotions, tell stories, and explore perspectives through color, form, and texture. I work primarily with ink on paper and acrylic on canvas, often incorporating a multimedia approach to bring depth and emotion to my pieces. Being from South Africa, I find endless inspiration in the beauty of this continent—its vast landscapes, rich textures, and the incredible wildlife that calls it home. Nature and animals are central to my work, not only as subjects but as symbols of resilience, freedom, and our deep connection to the natural world. For me, art is also a form of therapy—a space to express what words can’t always capture. It's how I find clarity, balance, and healing. Each piece I create is a reflection of this process, combining intention with emotion. Beyond creating, I have a deep love for teaching and sharing knowledge. Whether guiding others through artistic techniques or encouraging self-expression, I believe in the transformative power of creativity. I approach both my art and teaching with a strong work ethic, professionalism, and care—values that are woven into everything I do.

My approach to teaching art and painting is deeply rooted in the belief that creativity can be a powerful tool for self-expression and emotional well-being. I incorporate therapeutic techniques into my lessons, creating a safe and nurturing environment where students can explore their creativity without judgment. My sessions focus on process over perfection, encouraging mindfulness, self-discovery, and confidence-building through art.
I can teach in English and Afrikaans, ensuring clear communication and understanding in a language that best suits my students.
A typical lesson starts with a brief check-in to set intentions and understand how the student is feeling. This is followed by a creative warm-up exercise to loosen up and get into a flow state. During the main activity, we’ll explore different techniques and mediums, such as watercolors, acrylics, or sketching, while discussing how the creative process relates to emotions and personal experiences.
I provide gentle guidance and constructive feedback while encouraging self-expression. We end each session with a reflection, where students can share their thoughts and feelings about their work. The focus is on the journey of creation, not the final result.
