About Addison
With 9 years of piano teaching experience and nearly 300 students successfully guided, I offer lessons for high school students, college learners, and adults that focus on improving technical skill, musicality, and performance confidence.
My teaching philosophy blends structured instruction with encouragement, emphasising proper posture, hand coordination, finger independence, scales, chord transitions, rhythm, sight-reading, and expressive interpretation. I adapt lessons to each student’s pace, goals, and learning style, balancing technical exercises, theory, and repertoire practice, and provide strategies for effective home practice to ensure consistent growth.
Many students have performed confidently in recitals, school concerts, and competitions, while others have earned high distinctions in graded examinations. My aim is to create a motivating, supportive, and inspiring learning environment where students feel confident, encouraged, and empowered to reach their full potential as pianists.

My approach to teaching piano combines structured discipline with personalised flexibility. I begin by understanding the student’s goals, whether they aim to play for personal enjoyment, academic achievement, or performance preparation. I tailor lessons according to their learning style and pace.
I emphasise strong technical development, including posture alignment, hand coordination, scale mastery, arpeggios, rhythm control, and dynamic expression. I also teach effective practice techniques so students learn how to improve independently outside lesson time. If a student struggles with a concept, I remain flexible and introduce alternative exercises or simplified explanations to ensure understanding.
Collaboration is central to my teaching philosophy; I encourage open communication and involve students in setting realistic goals and selecting music they enjoy. Positivity is always present in my classroom, helping students build confidence and overcome performance anxiety.
Alongside piano lessons, I offer instruction in music theory, harmony, sight-reading, and beginner composition to deepen musical knowledge and strengthen overall musicianship.
