About Erica
Erica Quach’s love for the violin began at the age of five and quickly grew into a lifelong passion. She honed her skills performing with the NY Young Musicians' Ensemble, even traveling to Greece to play in renowned concert halls. Erica continued her musical journey at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School and Hamilton College, where she performed in the orchestra and the cleverly named quartet ensemble, "Hamstrings." After graduating from Hamilton in 2016, Erica shared her love for music as a violin instructor at Real Brave Music School in Queens. Soon after, her adventurous spirit led her to Chongqing, China, where she wore multiple hats as a violin teacher, English-Chinese interpreter, and education program coordinator at Musical Music & Art. Now based in Queens, NY, Erica works as Program Director, Special Programs at the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, combining her knack for cultural exchange with her dedication to fostering meaningful connections. Whether teaching music or building bridges between cultures, Erica thrives on creating harmony in all she does.

I incorporate the Suzuki method into my teaching, as it shaped my own musical foundation. Over the years, I’ve developed personalized teaching materials to make lessons interactive and engaging. I encourage students to explore the world of sound around them - identifying rhythms, pitches, and tones in everyday noises like sirens, car honks, or boiling water. My lessons begin with a focus on basic music theory, providing a basic foundation before gradually introducing violin technique. This approach helps students build a deep, intuitive connection to music while fostering creativity and curiosity.

I had the honor and joy to develop and implement a curriculum with Erica at an international music school in China. Her approach to education is incredibly engaging, hands-on, and tailored to each student’s specific needs. She has a knack for finding inventive ways to engage students through games, goal-based challenges, and truly flexible teaching methods.
We worked with a variety of ages and classroom settings, from early childhood groups all the way to one-on-one adult classes - regardless of the clients’ age, there were always smiles and laughs abound, with students demonstrating clearly tangible progress in every session. In addition, she is fluent in multiple languages, musical genres, and musical notation. Erica is an all-around fantastic choice for a music instructor and mentor! My daughter went to Erica for a few years, and gave her the 1-1 attention my daughter needed. Erica was very supportive, helpful and understanding. She always provided feedback even if it was when my daughter sent her a recording of a piece to her. Over the years, Erika became like family and I appreciate all the help she provided for my daughter. She was always there to encourage my daughter and that was exactly what she needed to excel- always grateful to Erica to help my daughter exhibit her potential.
