About Courtney
Coding started for me 13 years ago as a fascination with how digital systems process logic. I currently write Python for a living at Bay Area startups while spending my remaining hours helping career-switchers understand object-oriented programming. My expertise covers Java, clean code practices, and the fundamentals of building robust APIs.
Building projects is how I help students navigate the transition from basic syntax to professional development standards. Clarity is the ultimate outcome of these sessions because complex systems eventually become simple once the logic is exposed. I admit that learning clean code can feel tedious at first, but it is the only way to build software that actually lasts in a production environment.
My degree in Computer Science and time at the Insight Data Science Fellowship inform how I break down these difficult topics. Concepts are mapped out through direct collaboration so you do not get stuck on minor syntax errors.
We spend 9 minutes during each meeting specifically focusing on how to debug your own logic before moving to new features. This technical approach ensures that you understand why a solution works rather than just copying it from a screen. The logic remains consistent.
