About Spyridon
I have a B.A. in Archaeology and History, an M.A. in Archaeology and History of Art, with specialization in the ancient world, a second M.A. in History and Philosophy of Religions, with specialization in ancient religions.
I speak ancient Greek, Latin and Coptic, and I am trained in archaeology, in history of art and architecture, as well as in the study of ancient inscriptions, ancient papyri and ancient coins, which I always use to explain ancient myths or history.
Driven from my expertise and education, my approach in philosophy is historical: we will set ancient philosophers in their own, actual context, and understand them respectfully.

The class is addressed to all levels, from beginners who want to learn the basics of ancient Greek philosophy to advanced college-level tutorials for those who want to master Greek philosophy.
The class is based on reading and explaining ancient texts in English translation in the classroom, provided by me in advance or optionally from source books.
The class is based on a little preparation by the student before class, but the bulk of the work happens in the classroom with a one-on-one reading through the sources.
My methodology is Socratic: you probably know the answers to my questions, but I help you let them come out and realize for yourself that you could already read philosophy!
