About Mia

I am an Architecture Master's student currently studying at the Architectural Association in London. I completed my Undergraduate Degree at the University of Edinburgh with a degree in Architecture. I have attended university in two English Speaking countries: South Africa and the United Kingdom. My native language is English. I am also fluent in Serbian and can understand both Spanish and Afrikaans. Along with this, I have also studied both French and Italian at university level, I thus have a great understanding as to what learning a foreign language entails! I have been running conversation classes for foreign students over the past 3 years and have thoroughly enjoyed the process of seeing people improve.

About the lesson

My teaching methodology is to prepare a theme for each class, which is current and practically useful to the student; depending on their age, occupation, and passion. In each class, I introduce a short set of vocabulary relevant to the topic, give the student an interesting/relevant passage or article to read out loud, then discuss opinions, thoughts, and ideas afterward. The priority is for my classes to be fun and practical. I strongly believe in the process of Learning by Doing and have, in my experience, found that to be the quickest and most effective way to pick up a language.
