About Margaret
I am a senior at Grand Valley State University. I have studied Spanish for 10 years, and have been using Spanish outside the classroom for five years. I studied in Puebla, Mexico for five months in 2019, and am looking forward to studying in Mexico again during my student teaching next year! I am always looking for ways to improve my own Spanish speaking and comprehension through reading, watching tv, and listening to music in Spanish, as well as using Spanish out in the community when I can. I can tutor all ages in Spanish, having worked in immersion elementary schools, volunteered in high school Spanish classes, and tutored peers in college.

Spanish is a language, and when we learn languages we listen first and then create words, so that guides my approach in my lessons. It's important for students to hear native Spanish speakers, and the internet helps make that easy! I also want my students to know that they are in a safe learning space where they can make and learn from mistakes. I also trying to keep lessons engaging by varying how we work on lesson (conversation, videos, reading, puzzles, etc) and by incorporating games when possible and appropriate.
