About Tova

I hold a B.A. in Spanish and have applied my language skills throughout my hospitality career. Although my mother is Paraguayan, I wasn’t raised speaking Spanish, which inspired me to fully immerse myself in the language and culture. I have studied abroad in Spain, Costa Rica, and Argentina, experiencing different regional styles of the language and culture firsthand. Alongside my career, I have tutored Spanish to a wide range of students, helping them gain confidence and fluency through a patient, personalized approach.

About the lesson

I am a patient and adaptable tutor who believes every student learns differently. Learning a new language can feel challenging—and sometimes frustrating—so I focus on creating a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions.

My teaching approach is flexible and student-centered. I adjust my methods based on each student’s goals, learning style, and level. Lessons may include conversation practice, grammar explanations, vocabulary building, listening exercises, and real-world examples to help Spanish feel practical and usable.

A typical lesson begins with a quick review, followed by new material tailored to the student’s needs. We then practice together through guided exercises or conversation, and I always leave time for questions and clarification.

I work with a wide range of students, from young children to college students and adults. My lessons are ideal for beginners, students taking Spanish courses, and learners who want to improve conversational Spanish for travel, work, or personal growth. What sets me apart is my patience, flexibility, and commitment to helping students gain confidence while making steady progress.
