Find out more about Andreas

  • Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I grew up with my German grandparents that escaped in the second world war, and we spoke German all the time.
  • Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

    Otto Von Bismarck
  • Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

It's nice that it uses compound words, they let you express yourself in one word instead of a sentence, and the language is highly organized and structured.
  • Why does speaking this language matter to you?

I teach German, I have many friends in Germany and the language reminds me of my grandparents. It is also a good asset in business because Germany is the biggest economy in the European Union.
  • What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

The most difficult part is the case system (nominativ, dativ, akkusative and genitive) and the articles. It is very important to learn all the articles of every noun from the start so that later you don't get confused with the different cases.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

When I was at school learning a language, I found it to be boring, I remember all the grammar rules without any fun. I like to do my classes with music and videos, so it is a little more fun for the student and something that you want to learn instead of feeling that you must learn, like at school.
  • How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

As I did Couch-surfing through Europe, I realized that I had great advantages in German-speaking countries. I could start a job and make friends far easier. It was also great to be able to speak with native Germans and not just with tourists. The more you interact with native speakers the better and they will show you great cultural places.
  • What makes you a Superprof in language?

You have to love it, you have to be interested in the culture of the country to be able to feel it!. The more passion you find for the country and their culture, the more you will become a superprof.
