About MaryClaire
I spent the 2022-2023 school year teaching 11th grade Pre-Calc and Algebra 2, where I had the chance to share my passion and enthusiasm for teaching with my own students for the first time since I began my educational journey. I spent the Summer 2023-current school year working as a special education teacher and a math teacher. I taught Algebra 1, Business Math, and Basic Math. I have worked with special education co-teachers and as a special education teacher, have experience differentiating lessons for diverse learners, and have written IEPs. Despite the many challenges that I have faced, such as significant behavioral issues and a lack of student engagement, I have been able to form positive relationships with my students, set high expectations for them, and provide the support they need to reach their goals and experience success. I’ve learned to creatively adapt my teaching styles and methods to effectively and best meet the educational needs of my students. In my experiences I have learned collaboration skills. I believe it is very important that all students feel supported, respected, and valued. Throughout my teaching experience, I have always made it a priority to take extra time out of my days to be present and available for my students, offering any help they may need to feel more confident and secure. I want to create a learning environment that is safe for learning and growing, where making mistakes is nothing to be ashamed of, but rather a valuable part of the learning process. I too am learning each and every day, always open to feedback, and willing to implement any new ideas that would help me to be the best teacher I can possibly be.
