About Daryl

I am new to teaching in general, although I have already participated in summer camps in Montreal via my school to help learn the basics of 3D to young people, and as I said earlier, I have helped colleagues and friends throughout the development period of our game to learn English, linking to our profession. Having also had many English courses during my youth in Brussels and a professor with a PhD in English history, I have extensive experience in language teaching methodologies.

About the lesson

A small presentation is required! My name is Daryl Kidjo, 29 years old and I just graduated as a 3D video game artist in the beautiful city of Montreal in Canada. I am currently in Belgium until september before returning over there to work. I therefore offer my services to help you learn or perfect your English. My learning of this language began very early, via my family who lived in the USA, but also through video games, which taught me to familiarize myself with the vocabulary, written and oral comprehension. I subsequently obtained my general secondary school diploma in Dutch, English and Spanish languages, in our city of Brussels before studying as a graphic designer and then going to live for three and a half years in Montreal and reconvert into the video game industry. I also read many books in English, like those of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, which contains very advanced vocabulary. My method of teaching must be adapted to everyone, depending on the level of the person and his/her linguistic objective. Would you like to be able to communicate on a daily basis in English? Or is it your wish to reach a professional level so that you can work abroad? Are you a young student or an older person? All this will define how we will approach the courses and the work to be done to improve quickly and at your own pace. Courses are typically composed of written comprehension, such as reading newspaper articles or short stories, but also listening comprehension, such as following the news and clearly understanding the topics being tackled. Another part less joyful, but obligatory to improve, is learning vocabulary and irregular verbs. There are many ways more pleasant than learning them by heart; we must see and hear them regularly to assimilate them faster, for example. I am also a very patient and always in a good mood and I know how to motivate people to learn and keep a steady rhythm of work, having also managed a game development team in Montreal that contained people with little knowledge of English, it was necessary to help them to improve in order to work in this environment and the various future projects.
