About Alice

I’m a 30-year-old language nerd, digital nomad in the making, and your future Polish language mentor. Currently, I'm studying English Philology and building my career as a teacher of Polish as a foreign language — supporting learners like you in expressing themselves freely.

MY LANGUAGE LEARNING JOURNEY
My latest focus is German and Turkish, but my curiosity for languages doesn’t stop there. Languages I speak and study:
• Polish — native,
• English — C1,
• Czech & German — B1,
• Ukrainian — A2,
• Spanish — A1,
• Plus bits and pieces of Hindi, Slovak, Italian, Turkish, Dutch, Arabic, Icelandic and Polish Sign Language.

It’s not about being perfect.

MY LANGUAGE TEACHING JOURNEY
I’ve taught English for years, and now I’m giving birth to Polish courses for online learners. My idea is to make your language learning fun, flexible, and truly personal — while building a location-independent life doing what I love the most: connecting through language.

Besides guages, I love sports! I’m a snowboard instructor, practice sport climbing, and collect peaks in the Tatra Mountains. I also play the drums, care deeply about social awareness and justice, and I’m vegan. Lately, I’ve also gotten into web development — diving into coding languages — and my language site (polishup.online) marks the beginning of my coding journey. Yay!

About the lesson

Our lessons can be this unconventional - we can learn Polish while snowboarding together, in a restaurant, in the mountains… the only limit is our imagination!

On a daily basis, we meet in the virtual space of Google Classroom, where all your materials are available 24/7. During your first free lesson, I’ll give you a short test to identify your learning style, so our lessons resonate with your brain as much as possible :)) Lessons last 45 minutes and are suitable for anyone (at any level) who wants to learn online.

LEARNER-DRIVEN CURRICULUM
I advocate for an open, supportive learning environment where you are invited to co-create the experience with me from the very start. At the core of my approach is building meaningful communication and fostering a feedback-driven culture that encourages open dialogue.
By respecting your individuality, creativity, and self-expression, I embrace these qualities and create a safe space where you can explore your perceptions, motivations, and personality traits. My goal is to build trust, allowing you to communicate your thoughts and emotions openly
– without fear of ridicule – while receiving the affection and support you deserve. I believe that feeling valued and being free to express yourself makes life more meaningful and fulfilling.

My key qualities are empathy and care. As your guide, my role is to facilitate communication, listen attentively, encourage your independence, and build friendly relationships. I strive to reduce feelings of anxiety, fear, or shyness of asking questions. I need you to feel comfortable. I keep it light and make it fun. I move from a teacher-centered approach to a more student-centered experience. I do not force anything – if something doesn’t work, I adapt. This process is a growing experience for both of us.

Your learning process is a joint responsibility – neither mine nor yours alone – it’s ours. You have a considerable say in the decision-making process at every stage of the course. I don’t see you as a passive recipient of information. Rather, I encourage you to take initiative,
and strive for progress. I welcome your contributions without judgment, maintaining a “you can do it” mindset. I believe we can gain a deeper understanding when we shape both what and how we are learning.
I view English as a useful aid when needed for comprehension and formulating hypotheses about Polish – your target language, particularly in the early stages. This approach is flexible: I can continue using English in all of our lessons, or we can avoid it entirely to immerse you fully in the linguistic context.
