About Druhan

I'm Druhan, a 21 year old lover of food, football, surfing and meeting new people. My friends describe me as chill, bright and sociable, although I am still a nerd at heart!

I used to be incredibly anxious as a teen and disliked a lot of my teachers, so I always make sure to be approachable and understanding when interacting with students. I look to find common ground with those I teach and try to understand what they do and don't like so that lessons can be as enjoyable as possible for the both of us!

I have tutored tens of students over the years, both privately and on behalf of companies, so I know how to get the best out of my students and achieve the targets we set. I've consistently been a high achiever in academics, getting 3A*s and an A at A Level and a first in my physics and philosophy degree, and so I'm of great help when it comes to general study tips and exam preparation on top of my teaching skills.

About the lesson

I ALWAYS get to know my student well and develop an understanding of the student's needs and targets before teaching. Clear goals are set for each lesson, week and month.

1 hour lessons typically are structured as follows:
1. Introduction and Warm-up (5-10 minutes, usually a quiz/game consolidating upon last week's topic)
2. New Content Introduction (10-15 minutes, lesson objectives
3. Guided Practice (15-20 minutes, I guide my student step-by-step through increasingly difficult example exercises)
4. Independent Practice (10-15 minutes, the student works on a few problems or tasks independently, applying the concepts just learnt)
5. Review and Wrap-Up (5-10 minutes, we summarise the key takeaways from the lesson and I suggest homework exercises to be completed)

While every student is unique, I generally make use of a mix of interactive and textbook methods of teaching with all my students.
