About Lisa
Clarity is often found in the messy details rather than the perfect textbook definitions of grammar rules. My 7 years of experience teaching ESL to business travelers and students informs how I approach your specific writing skills.
You will find that my lessons focus on practical application rather than rote memorization. A homework module with feedback after every class ensures that you continue to progress between our scheduled meetings. Have you ever wondered why English idioms and expressions feel so difficult to master despite how much time you spend studying them? I found my calling in this field because I am bilingual and truly enjoy helping newcomers navigate the shifting landscape of a new language. Having earned my BA in ESL from U of T, I apply a academic foundation to my 7 years of experience in the classroom.
I have mentored 414 students through the challenges of mastering conversational fluency and professional writing for the workplace. It is rewarding to watch a student finally grasp the mechanics of a complex email or a technical interview. Connecting with people from diverse backgrounds is the most enjoyable part of my day.
