About Britt
Nice to meet you! I have a degree in art history and English. I have worked 12 years as an elementary educator and literacy tutor. I love reading and writing, especially made-up stories and poetry. I have a vast knowledge base in balanced literacy instruction. I am ESL certified, and was awarded district teacher of the year when I was a classroom teacher. I go above and beyond to help each student excel.

I have twelve years of experience as an elementary literacy teacher and tutor. Lessons usually include a read aloud, guided reading, imaginative play, movement, and art. We toggle between reading focused lessons and writing lessons. Balanced literacy includes reading, writing, speaking, and listening. We will explore all of these domains in a fun way. I focus on the student doing and creating, rather than me just talking away. We will explore the depth of literature and the treasures of the writing process. My students expand their love and understanding of literature in just a handful of classes. No matter if students are behind grade level, on or above, they will get a good balance of skills practice and enrichment. Allow me to help your learner grow a love of literacy for a lifetime.

I know Britt through some volunteer organizations and art classes. She is such a sweet lady. She's delightful. Kids gravitate to nice, warm, trustworthy people and Britt is one of those.
