About Ella
I sometimes struggle to keep my foot from tapping when a student hits a difficult chord transition perfectly. My teaching character is rooted in patience and a calm, theatre-fluent demeanour. I bring 8 years of experience and a formal MMus Voice degree from the Royal Northern College of Music to our guitar sessions.
This background helps me explain music theory and ear training with unusual clarity for performance-focused students. I enjoy working with hobbyists who want to understand blues progressions or electric technique. My history includes 7 years of professional performing, which informs how I approach rhythm guitar and fingerpicking.
Reading tabs becomes a secondary tool once we focus on developing a real ear for the instrument. I also guide students through grade exam prep if they choose that path. It just works.

The smell of fresh guitar strings always signals that we are about to turn a song request into a simplified arrangement for your specific skill level. Personalisation is my priority.
My 8 years of experience allow me to adapt complex blues progressions or lead guitar parts so they feel achievable yet challenging. I focus on music theory and ear training to help performance-focused students hear what they play. We spend time on rhythm guitar technique and essential fingerpicking patterns. Because I am a classically trained vocalist, I emphasise how the guitar supports the song's overall structure.
Hobbyists find that this holistic view makes learning theory much less intimidating. We might spend an entire session on one specific transition to ensure it sounds clean. Intermediate learners often see their speed improve through my focus on electric technique. It just flows.
