I find out where the student is having challenges whether in decoding skills or comprehension or both and what their writing skills look like. I then start them a level below where they are having difficulty and boost their confidence from there. I pull from many sources including Focus workbooks, online reading materials and my own creative lessons. I make sure to communicate with the parent as to the child's progress for each lesson and sometimes assign fun homework tasks for the parent and child to complete together.
