About Tayla
I am an experienced tutor, coach, mentor and university lecturer, able to provide personalised and tailored support to students. I hold 2 x BSc’s in Psychology and Sport Science, 1 x Master's in Performance Psychology, and I am currently undertaking a PhD in Sport Skill Acquisition and Talent Development. As a result of these academic experiences I have a detailed understanding of the unique needs and skills required for students studying the social science, particularly psychology and sociology, as well as sport. I am incredibly enthusiastic in both sports and psychology. My background in professional sport shines through in my teaching, allowing me to create real situations from both academia and learnt experiences. I can resonate with students well, understanding the challenges that are faced. I am able to apply theory to practice, in a manner that all levels of student understand. I always ensure that students understand the topic area, working with them to their strengths, and finding best ways to overcome weaknesses. I apply a holistic sense of teaching, finding the best approach to suit the individual student. Regardless of your needs and goals, I have the experience, drive, and personality to help you achieve this.

I have extensive experience working with students of all backgrounds, both in academia and sport settings. I ran a sporting organisation in Australia for a few years, and came back to England to focus on my PhD. I work as a part-time lecturer in the modules: contemporary issues in sport, contemporary issues in psychology, skills in research, public health promotion, anatomy & physiology, social psychology, sport psychology, work experience, and personal development. I also lead the third-year dissertation module, working closely with students on their dissertations. I will work with you, designing the lesson to suit your needs, listening to you and taking into consideration the things you discuss with me, including how best you learn and what you are confident / less confident with. In the lesson we will work together, with an environment conducive to aid your academic performance, encouraging questions and ensuring full understanding. I’ll help you to become more passionate regarding the topic, apply real-life situations, explain the theory and brainstorm with you on assessment criteria. Individual approaches are taken to aid your development.
