About Alec
I have been tutoring privately for two years, and I have taught around 20 different students. Although I can teach a variety of subjects including math, English, grammar, economics, and JAVA, I spend most of my time tutoring for standardized tests such as the SAT and the ACT. Most of my students see 100 or 200 point gains on the SAT after working with me, and they arrive on test day confident and ready to succeed. I scored a 1580 on the SAT myself, with an 800 on the math, and a 35 on the ACT, with a 36 on the Science and English sections. I have taken dozens and dozens of each test, and I have valuable information to help my students succeed.

I am going to be a freshman at Stanford University, and I am a member of the class of 2022. I give lessons primarily to high school students looking to improve their standardized test scores, but I also have experience tutoring for regular classes. I use diagnostic tests when I work with a new students to find their strengths and weaknesses, and I use worksheets and instruction to address any weaknesses a student may have in a particular area. I am generally pretty laid-back, and I like to explain topics in a way that students can truly understand them, not just with formulas or memorization. I do like to work hard for the extent of my tutoring sessions, but I often spend time after talking to and advising students about their college and career plans.
