About Avery
Hi! I’m a Stanford University student minoring in German Studies. My connection to German actually started through athletic competition—I traveled frequently to German-speaking countries for competitions, where I made friendships that inspired me to start learning the language! I never expected to fall in love with German, but learning it allowed me to connect with people on a whole new level and gave me a deeper appreciation for the cultures and places I had already come to know.
Since then, I’ve continued studying German at Stanford and am excited to share my enthusiasm for the language with my students! I bring a professional and thoughtful approach to tutoring while keeping lessons relaxed, engaging, and fun. I know firsthand that learning a new language can feel intimidating, and my goal is to help students build confidence while genuinely enjoying the process!

Learning German doesn’t have to feel like memorizing endless grammar rules! I want to make lessons comfortable, engaging, and personalized to each student’s goals and interests. As a Stanford student studying German Studies, I can help students build confidence in speaking, strengthen their grammar and vocabulary, and become more comfortable using German in everyday situations.
Whether you’re just starting out, taking German in school, preparing for an exam, or simply want to feel more confident speaking, we’ll work together to make German feel approachable and enjoyable. My goal is for students to leave each lesson feeling like they learned something new and feel more comfortable with the language!
