About Colum
Hello, I'm Colum, a friendly and committed tutor with exceptional depth in STEM fields and 4 years of experience. Hopefully, after reading this, you will know a bit about me and consider my services. Promoting science and maths is something I have done for a long time and very passionate about. I've founded and lead the school's physics club - the Newtonian Society - and serve as an ambassador for the International Astronomy and Astrophysics Competition. I have also written award-winning articles and research papers for the Harvard International Review, China's Chemistry Education Journal, and the Gold Crest award. I am particularly proud of the research project I undertook for the Gold Crest award, where I coded a programme to simulate the trajectory of charged particles. In my spare time, I enjoy reading books, watching movies, playing basketball, sailing, and playing the piano. I know how frustrating it can be when something doesn’t click – and how rewarding it feels when it finally does. My lessons are relaxed but focused, tailored to your goals, and built to boost both confidence and understanding. If you have any questions at all, feel free to message me. I always prepare lessons in advance, tailored to your needs. I focus on building problem-solving skills in my lesson, abilities that will last a lifetime. I am against simply letting the student do repetitive questions. I can achieve better results, in less time. Homework is optional, but encouraged. Lessons are typically 1 hour long, but I’m flexible depending on the student’s needs and attention span. I teach Maths, Physics, and Computer Science at A-Level, GCSE, and KS3 (ages 11–18). I can also tutor for BPhO Olympiads. I’ve consistently achieved A*s in all three subjects at both A-Level and GCSE, received top marks in national competitions, and was awarded best in year for all three. I’ve also tutored younger students at school, so I know how to explain things clearly and patiently. Whether you’re just starting out, need help catching up, or want to stretch beyond the syllabus, I’d love to help you reach your goals.
