About Mazie
Hello there! My name is Mazie McLeod, I am nearly 18 and a classical violinist who fell in love with music at the age of 6! I started lessons at age 9 with the goal of becoming the next Lindsey Stirling. While life has taken me a path that is far different from that of being a pop violinist, I have found that classical music has its own beauty that is vastly different from modern music, and I have fallen in love with it! I hope that no matter what you are looking for, whether it be fiddling for fun or pursuing the dream of becoming a concert violinist, that I will be able to join you in your journey of making your dreams come true, and most importantly, falling in love with the beauty and elegance of the violin!

- teaching using the Suzuki Method, one of the most famous and effective training methods for musicians. Suzuki Method is treated like learning a language; you will learn how to play your instrument at a novice level before moving on to learning to read music. I will teach students to read sheet music through scale work, learning where the notes lay on the staff (the lines on the paper).
- Lessons will begin with tuning the instrument, which the student will learn to do by themselves over time, and then move on to scales. Afterwards, we will work on mini pieces/exercises called "etudes," focusing on mastering specific techniques. Finally, we end the lesson with learning/mastering a piece, which may be out of the Suzuki repertoire.
- I am a violinist with 9 years experience, 7 and a half years of training under the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra (specifically their youth program), and have 2 years experience mentoring and assisting two conductors in teaching the youngest orchestral group (elementary-middle school).
- Lessons are for anyone wishing to learn the violin! I teach anyone from zero skills to those who are learning repertoire from Suzuki book 4. While any age is welcome, I am most experienced in teaching elementary and middle schoolers.
- Lessons are never given at the student's house. The lessons are either in my own home, or I am willing to travel to Little Rock to the Stella Boyle Smith Music Building, where a practice room will be reserved for the lesson.

Mazie has been absolutely amazing as my violin teacher!
Her patience, grace, and kind energy has helped me be consistent in learning the violin. She’ll never make you feel bad for not knowing something. Instead, she takes her time to teach in a way that’s easy to understand and remember. As someone who was intimidated (and still is haha) by the violin I truly appreciate Mazie and I am looking forward to learning more from her.I have known Mazie for around a year now, and she is the reason I have the posture and skill I have on violin. I am a cellist in our orchestra that sometimes plays violin at a low skill for fun. The first time we ever met, was her teaching me proper posture for violin playing. Since then, I have been able to progress on my own with better technique and less pain.
When I think of the word dependable. The first person that comes to mind is Mazie McLeod. An absolutely selfless and loving person who will devote her time to anyone who seeks her out. Mazie and I have known and played with each other for the past several years and have shared leadership roles within our orchestra. Additionally, she is a wonderful violinist and colleague and thus a great teacher.
Mazie is a talented violinist with many years of experience! She’s very hardworking, organized, and gifted at teaching.
