About Nicholas
"Seatbelts, Everyone!"
Hello! My name is Nicholas Canfield, but you can call me Nick! I'm an Idaho-licensed teacher, and I'm so excited at the opportunity to guide you to your personal educational goals!
Why Book Me?
1. I have a deep knowledge base of the human story, from the rise of the Roman Empire to the flourescence of America, you name it, I can talk to you about it!
2. I go into teaching every day with this commitment: we are on this journey together, we will figure this out together, I'm not too worried, and I guarantee by the end, all will be well. "Everything will be alright in the end, so if it is not yet alright, then it is not yet the end."
3. You will start and end each learning session with me knowing exactly where we're going ("sailing" as I call it in my classes), why we're sailing, how we're going to sail there, and what the end result will be.
Away we go!

Here's how a typical day will go:
1. A dispositional affect formative assessment.
2. A starting bell ringer: this will either be a fun fact and its explanation of the topic we're discussing, or I will ask you to answer a question from Reddit that will be threaded to the content we're discussing. I'm ready for either one, you get to choose!
3. A brief explanation of our day's events (where we're sailing, I called it in my classroom), and why we're doing what we're doing.
4. 10-20 minutes direct instruction of the topic and scaffolding to the day's activity.
5. A walkthrough of what you'll be doing
6. 15-25 minutes guided activity or assessment. I'm there every step of the way.
7. Come back together for a review and recap of what we've discussed.
8. A closing discussion of where we're sailing for next time.
