About Spencer
I am a progressing Statistics PhD student at Iowa State University in Ames Iowa. I spent two years as an instructor for undergraduate statistics courses and am currently working as a statistics consultant. I also have corporate experience. I have spent many one on one hours with struggling students and know how to hear the questions students ask. I like to think I'm good at exciting others about math, stats, and data!

I recognize that one of the best ways to understand math and statistics is to simply talk through problems. I've seen many students who were stuck on a problem which they didn't know how to solve, but as they explained to me what they already knew they were able to get past stumbling blocks. I try hard to guide students or correct them if they are wrong without giving them answers. In using that approach, I see a lot of students surprise themselves with how well they can do math and statistics!
