Thesis: Research on growing crystals of high temperature superconductivity
(1) I researched on the crystal growth Bi-2223, -2212 and Bi-2201 by floating zone. (2) The contamination by alumina crucible and the effect of Al on Tc for Bi2212 single crystals was clarified completely by experiments. (3) I suggested a novel pulling method for crystal growth based on a metal rod’s thermal expansion, instead of the traditional gear motor method. It is reasonable to reason that the new method will be better to pull some crystals without growth striations caused by the fluctuations of growing speed.

M.S of Science in Institute of Matter Structure (Fujian), Chinese Academy of Sciences Thesis: Research on exploring and growing crystal of nonlinear and laser crystals. I found a new type of laser material Nd3+:NaY(WO4)2, that single crystal was successfully obtained. The new laser crystal rod was pumped by a xenon flash lamp and a 1.06 μm laser output was for the first time obtained. The exploration includes solid reaction of powder, phase diagram, crystal growth, calculating crystal structure and the analyses.
