  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

    I have always been very interested in cooking since childhood. I would see my mum cook and learn new recipes and I would learn to cook from her. Usually I would be the second person to cook the dish after mum had tried it. Then as I grew up to be a young woman, I also learnt new tips from cooking magazines, friends and others and slowly mastered my cooking skills.
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

    I am passionate about cooking and helping others learn quick tips. I firmly believe that everyone should know how to cook, irrespective of gender. My passion is to take the stress out of cooking. Cook what you like but not by spending hours in kitchen. I help people learn quick ways to contribute more nutrition to their diet by still keeping the deliciousness intact
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

    I like to help young people (new mums, young students living on their own) to cook healthy meals by making switches in ingredients and still having their favourite dishes. This takes the guilt out of eating snacky food items as you have cooked yourself and know what is in them.

    I like to be called a Superprof as I can help my students to enjoy the cooking lessons and master them, by learning the creative skills. I can see the love of food in them when they learn a few dishes and start creating on their own. It is a great feeling of achievement for my student and me.
  • Do you have any role models, a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

    Anyone who can teach a new skill and recipe becomes my role model. There are many whom I have learnt from, a few tips from one and all. I am still a student, as I keep adding to my skills. It is amazing to know that you can learn from everyone, even my own students or clients, who teach me new skills when they talk about creating their favourite dishes or what they miss from their childhood or native lands.
  • What are your keys to success?

    The key to my success is always being ready to learn new tips and tricks to make food tastier while keeping the cooking time to a minimum. I do not like elaborate cooking, so I try to make things easier by coming up with new ideas to make food in a jiffy, but still keeping its signature taste. My cooking classes have taught me to make one main ingredient the hero of the class - where we make 3-4 dishes using it in different ways. This also keeps the class sustainable as we do not use too many groceries.
