About Diana

I’m Diana, a native Spanish speaker from Mexico City and the founder of LAMS Spanish Learning

I have taught Spanish and Hispanic culture at King’s College London, the University of Cape Town and the University of the Witwatersrand, and I have a degree in Intercultural Studies from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

My approach is not about giving you another textbook and asking you to memorise more vocabulary.

I combine my academic background with years of teaching experience to create lessons that are structured, purposeful and centred around real communication.

My goal is simple: I want you to leave each lesson knowing exactly what you worked on, why you worked on it, and how it is helping you become a more confident Spanish speaker.

About the lesson

Every lesson has a purpose.

Instead of simply following a textbook page or having an unstructured conversation, we work on the Spanish you actually need to communicate.

Depending on your level and goals, we might work on:

Build the ability to express your ideas without translating every sentence in your head.

*Listening
Train your ear to understand real Spanish when people speak naturally, not just slow textbook Spanish.

*Vocabulary & grammar
Learn the language you need and, most importantly, learn how to ACTUALLY use it.

*Real conversation
Practise speaking about topics that matter to you, so you become comfortable communicating spontaneously.

*Progress
Know what you are improving and what you need to work on next.

I provide the learning materials and structure. You bring your curiosity, your questions and your willingness to speak.

Whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced learner who feels stuck, I adapt the lesson to your current level and goals.
