About Elsie

I love teaching and sharing the joy of music. To me, music is about communication, fun, and self-care - learning an instrument is one of the best gifts you can give yourself, and I am privileged when I can be a part of that journey!

About the lesson

I teach violin and viola to all ages and levels. I graduated with a 1st class Music degree from the University of Birmingham, and have performed with the BBC on live television/radio (Proms, Songs of Praise), The National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, and many others.

I played violin as a teenager until my university and then had a long gap, Elsie made it very easy for me to smoothly go back to learning violin and playing with confidence. She was very flexible with my schedule and so understanding of individual's feelings. She was very kind and knowledgeable and motivated me even though I had a long gap. I am so lucky to have known her and will forever be grateful for her patience with me.

Elsie introduced me to the viola as an adult learner - from my first pizzicato to Bach. She’s kind and encouraging, but not afraid to push you to improve! Every lesson was fun and engaging with a healthy dose of technique. An absolutely wonderful teacher!
