  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I’ve always enjoyed math because it came naturally to me, but my interest in tutoring really started during my junior year of high school. I began tutoring as a way to volunteer for my school, and I quickly realized how much I enjoyed helping other students understand concepts that once seemed difficult. As I became more confident in my teaching abilities, I started looking for opportunities to tutor professionally. Tutoring has been a perfect fit because I genuinely enjoy helping others succeed, and the flexible schedule allows me to balance it with school while still giving each student the attention they deserve.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I tutor math at all levels, from elementary school through high school. Every level has something unique to offer. I enjoy working through challenging algebra and calculus problems with older students, but it’s just as rewarding helping younger students build a strong foundation in arithmetic and basic problem-solving. My favorite part isn’t any one topic—it’s helping students understand why a method works instead of simply memorizing steps. Once students understand the reasoning behind math, they become much more confident tackling new problems on their own.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

I can’t point to just one teacher, but all of my high school math teachers played an important role in shaping how I view math. They made their classes engaging and enjoyable which helped me appreciate the subject even more. Their enthusiasm showed me that math doesn’t have to be intimidating, and that’s something I try to bring into every tutoring session. I want my students to experience that same confidence and enjoyment.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

I think the most important qualities are patience, communication, and adaptability. Every student learns differently, so a good tutor has to be willing to explain the same idea in several different ways until it clicks. It’s also important to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions without worrying about making mistakes. Building confidence is just as important as teaching the material itself.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

One of the most rewarding parts of tutoring is hearing back from students or parents after we’ve worked together. Some of my favorite moments are receiving messages saying that a student’s grade improved dramatically or that they finally felt confident taking a test they had been worried about. Those moments remind me that tutoring is about much more than solving homework problems—it’s about helping students believe in their own abilities.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Like many students, I’ve encountered topics that required extra time and persistence to fully understand. I’ve learned that being good at math doesn’t mean every concept comes instantly—it means being willing to keep working until it makes sense. That experience helps me relate to students who are struggling because I understand that learning is a process. Everyone progresses at a different pace, and that’s completely okay.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Helping others learn is definitely one of my biggest passions. There’s something incredibly rewarding about seeing a student go from feeling frustrated to confidently solving problems on their own. Outside of tutoring, I’m also passionate about music and engineering, both of which have strengthened my problem-solving skills and taught me the value of discipline and creativity. Whether I’m teaching math, performing music, or working through an engineering challenge, I enjoy learning, improving, and helping others do the same.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P)?

What makes me a Superprof is my genuine passion for helping others succeed. I focus on building understanding and confidence rather than just finding the right answer, and I adapt my teaching style to each student’s learning needs. Seeing my students improve and achieve their goals is what motivates me most.
