About Mahdiyah
Hi! I'm a UBC student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Science and a Master's degree in Business. I've always been passionate about problem-solving, ever since I was young and spent my spare time tackling TED-Ed riddles, which is what first drew me to math and chemistry. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to work with students from many different backgrounds, including students with autism and other learning challenges. Those experiences have shaped the way I connect with people and taught me that everyone approaches learning differently. What I enjoy most about tutoring is getting to know students, helping them grow in confidence, and seeing them realize they're capable of more than they thought.

In a typical lesson, I like to start by identifying where the confusion is coming from, whether it's a knowledge gap or simply test-taking strategies. From there, we'll work through examples together, break down difficult concepts into manageable pieces, and practice applying them to different types of questions. I also encourage students to explain their thinking out loud, as this is often the fastest way to build confidence and identify misconceptions.
I work with students at many different stages of their academic journey, from those who want extra support in math and chemistry to those pursuing ambitious goals in IB, AP, or university courses. No matter where you're starting from, I adapt each lesson to your needs and focus on helping you develop both a strong understanding of the material and the confidence to succeed independently.
