About Venessa

Welcome! I’m a passionate and experienced math educator with over 15 years of teaching experience across both middle school, high school, and college-level classrooms. I currently teach Algebra 2 at the high school level and Precalculus through the University of Texas at Austin, where I support students in mastering advanced math concepts and building a strong foundation for future success. I hold active teaching credentials in both California and Texas, certified to teach mathematics in grades 4 through 12, and I also have a Master’s degree in Education. My approach blends deep content knowledge with proven instructional strategies, ensuring students gain both understanding and confidence in math. Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of learners, and I’m proud to say that ALL of my students have improved in their math skills—a reflection of their hard work, as well as my commitment to clear instruction, personalized support, and academic excellence. About the lesson

My Tutoring Approach: Building Confidence, Skills, and Success in Math

With over 15 years of experience teaching middle and high school math, I’ve developed a patient, supportive, and highly personalized tutoring style that meets students where they are—and helps them grow.

Each session is thoughtfully structured to support three key areas:

Skill Building: I reteach concepts using clear, engaging lessons tailored to the student’s learning style.

Homework Help: We work through assignments together to reinforce understanding and reduce frustration.

Test-Taking Strategies: I help students build confidence through practice, review, and smart strategies for approaching quizzes, tests, and standardized exams.

My lesson plans are based on grade-level standards, and I always adapt to each student’s individual pace and needs. Whether a student is struggling with algebra, geometry, or preparing for an upcoming exam, I provide steady encouragement and clear explanations every step of the way.

What sets me apart? I’m patient, I listen, and I believe in my students. I don’t just teach math—I help students believe they can do math. My goal is always to build confidence as well as competence.
