About Anisha

Hi! I’m Anisha, a first-year undergraduate student at UNSW studying Engineering. I recently completed the IB Diploma, where I took Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches and Chemistry at Higher Level, and have been through years of Kumon training during my foundation years.

Math and chemistry have always fascinated me—the way math sharpens your thinking, builds logic, and helps solve real-world problems, and how chemistry explains the world around us at a deeper, molecular level. But my journey with both subjects wasn’t always smooth. There was a time when I struggled, doubted myself, and felt overwhelmed—whether it was complex equations or tricky chemical concepts.

What changed everything was having a teacher who didn’t just explain the steps, but helped me understand the ‘why’ behind them. That guidance sparked my confidence and transformed both subjects from something I feared into something I genuinely enjoyed.

Now, I want to offer that same support to younger students. I know how intimidating math and chemistry can feel, but I also know how empowering it is once things start to click. I aim to be a patient, relatable mentor—someone who helps you truly understand concepts in a way that sticks, building your confidence one step at a time, and maybe even making you smile along the way.

About the lesson

My personal teaching approach for mathematics and chemistry focuses on building strong conceptual understanding rather than memorisation. I help students understand the “why” behind concepts so they can confidently apply their knowledge to any problem.

I break down complex ideas into simple, manageable steps and use real-life analogies to make abstract topics more relatable—whether it’s visualising chemical processes or understanding mathematical logic. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s learning style, ensuring explanations are clear and effective.

A typical lesson begins with a quick review to identify gaps, followed by clear concept explanations and guided practice. Students then work through problems independently with support, building both confidence and exam readiness. I also focus on strengthening foundational skills and teaching effective problem-solving and exam strategies.

Most importantly, I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. My goal is to build confidence, reduce anxiety, and help students improve one step at a time while developing a genuine understanding of maths and chemistry.
