About Willow

Hi there,

I’m a qualified Motor Vehicle Tutor with QTLS status, with experience teaching both theory and practical in a large college in Birmingham.

A few years ago, I stepped away from full-time teaching to travel. Since 2019, I’ve been travelling across The Americas in a classic VW campervan — one that my students and I rebuilt together before I left. While that might sound like a long break, it’s actually kept my mechanical knowledge very much alive — when you’re travelling long-term, you get plenty of hands-on problem solving.

Before that, I spent my time supporting learners on vocational courses and apprenticeships, helping them understand the theory behind what they were doing in the workshop. I know how these qualifications are structured, and the areas that students often find difficult.

I’m now looking to return to teaching in a more flexible way, and I genuinely enjoy helping students build confidence and reach their goals.

I’m always happy to have a quick chat about what you need help with before getting started.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring:

My teaching style is structured, patient and focused on making things genuinely understandable — not just memorised for an exam.

I will break down motor vehicle theory into simple steps, using real-world examples so it actually makes sense rather than feeling like a wall of information. I've got my car right here too, so we can look at some real examples! I’m happy to go over things as many times as needed and adapt explanations until they click. I have experience in working with complete beginners to qualified adults.

How lessons typically work:

Lessons are usually around 60 minutes, but I can be flexible depending on what you need.

We can:
- Work through specific topics you’re struggling with
- Go over coursework or assignments
- Prepare for exams with focused revision
- Or build up your understanding from the ground up

There’s no pressure — sessions are paced to suit you.

My background:

I’m a qualified motor vehicle tutor with QTLS status, with experience supporting learners on vocational courses from Entry 3 to Level 3. I have worked with students of all ages, starting from 14+

I understand how these courses are structured and the areas students often find difficult, especially when it comes to theory.

Anyone who'd just like to learn about cars!

Especially those who feel stuck, behind, or lacking confidence with the theory side of things, I know this can feel like 'the hard part'.
