About Lisa-Marie

I wanted to give private lessons because having been a prep student, I know the difficulties that one can have when faced with something that seems insurmountable and the desire to give up. Asking one of our teachers for help is not always easy, and neither is training alone. That's why having someone young, who can understand our difficulties is important. You should never be afraid or ashamed to ask for help, that's how you become better and succeed :)

For SVTs:
I can teach up to a preparatory level for biology, and until terminal for geology. I have many resources for the different levels, and an approach that mixes explanatory videos, diagrams to redo, analogies... During my prep years, having had to learn a lot of new concepts and entire biology books, I understood that it was not enough to just read his course, but to fully understand it and be sure to understand the functioning of the biological / geological problem. In addition, it is necessary to be interested beyond the course to want to understand, such as for example to seek external sources.

Typical course:
-If we have to revise a concept or a course, we first check that all the vocabulary used is understood, which is very important in biology or geology, then we will understand the concept with the help of explanations from me, videos, analogies, until I can fully understand it. The goal is not to know your lesson by heart but to understand.
-If we have to work on an exercise, we will first make sure we have understood the subject with the previous method, then we will reflect together on the problem, and I will help the student to find the solutions by asking the right questions

For math:
Throughout my schooling I studied mathematics, and especially during my two years of preparation. Despite the fact that it is an organic preparation, we had 8 hours of mathematics per week, and a very busy program. I learned mathematical rigor, but also the demonstration of theorems and mathematical logic. I can teach up to a terminal level.
-To work on a course or exercises, we will first understand the definitions of mathematical objects concerning this course, then how to use them. Then, there will be a learning part of the theorems, and corollaries, and even if it is not a question of carrying out the demonstration of the latter (this being surely outside the program), it is nevertheless necessary to understand where they come from. Then you have to work on simple application exercises at first, and finally practice problem solving.

For English:
- I work in English on a daily basis, since I am bilingual, I read my books in English, I watch my films/series completely in English, and I also correspond with Americans.
I can help in English for help with homework, or exercises.
