About Camille
Do you feel stuck writing your thesis or dissertation?
You have data, results… but you just can’t turn it into a clear piece of writing.
You spend hours stuck on a single paragraph.
You reread, edit, start over… without ever feeling satisfied.
Meanwhile, the deadline is getting closer.
I know this situation very well, I’ve been there.
During my PhD and then my postdoc in biology, I spent months collecting sometimes very complex data… only to face the hardest part: writing. And not just writing, but producing something clear, structured, and convincing.
I know what it feels like to go in circles, to doubt every sentence, and to not even know where to start anymore.
Today, I help students get through exactly this stage.
I’m a researcher (PhD + postdoc, over 7 years of experience), with several publications in journals like Science and Nature Communications. But more importantly, I’ve helped students from undergraduate level to PhD structure their work, finalize their thesis, and sometimes even reach publication.
My goal is to go beyond simple proofreading. I want to help you gain clarity, take back control, and give you a strategy along with practical tips and techniques to improve efficiently.
My interdisciplinary research background is especially suited for life sciences, but I can help across most scientific fields!

IMPORTANT: to help you effectively, I’ll need a few details when you reach out:
– your level (undergrad, Master’s, PhD…)
– what you need to submit (thesis, dissertation, article…)
– where you currently stand
– and your deadline!
I can probably help if you recognize yourself in one of these situations:
– you’re stuck in your writing
– you lack structure or a clear narrative
– you’re unsure about the quality of your text
– you’re running out of time and don’t know what to prioritize
Concretely, here’s how I can help:
• Structure and argumentation: turning your work into a clear, logical narrative
• Writing and style: helping you express your ideas in a fluent, academic way
• In-depth editing: grammar, clarity, and overall coherence
• Figures: improving the clarity and impact of your graphs
• References and bibliography: clean and properly formatted organization
• Stats / coding (R, Python): data analysis and how to report results correctly
You don’t need to commit to a lot of hours if it’s not necessary.
Maybe you just need:
– a quick review
– feedback on a few pages
– or regular support to keep progressing week after week
In any case, I adapt to your needs.
To get started, I offer a free trial:
I’ll review a few pages of your work and provide detailed feedback.
This gives you a concrete sense of how I work, with no commitment.
If it feels like a good fit, we can then figure out the best way to move forward so you can finally wrap up your thesis or dissertation.

Perfect! Camille was very helpful. Even though my paper was outside his field, he still provided valuable feedback and thoughtful suggestions.
- I enjoyed working with Rawda on the last mile of her microbiology thesis. Communication with her was fast and easy.Camille's response :

I have had the pleasure of being a student of Camille for six months, as he was my supervisor during my masters thesis. I remember starting this period with some insecurities about writing in general, and as it turns out, I couldn't have had a better supervisor than Camille.
Camille is a very patient tutor and always took the time I needed. He recognised that I was comparing my work to Nature papers and offered me to show me his own master thesis. His example was very helpful, and at one point I even began to see the fun in writing.
Besides learning that writing could be fun, Camille also really helped me in improving my writing skills. His constructive way of giving feedback made it not too bad to receive it, and he was always willing to work on pieces of text together. Camille showed me how to technically build up a piece of text, which type of sentence goes where, and how you can connect two pieces of text. He also showed me in which ways you can be playful while still being correct and professional with the language.
In addition to the actual writing Camille also thought me a lot of other things that were helpful during my thesis. He showed me how he keeps track of his references, how he looks for new literature, and how he organises the interesting parts of a paper. These are methods I am actually still using today. Exploring and decomposing the work of others together was also a practice Camille used to help me improve my writing skills. The basics of coding and making graphs in R studio are also things Camille is familiar with, and he was always more than happy to help me out.
As the cherry on top, my final master thesis was used by Camille as a foundation for an academic publication.
I would highly recommend Camille as a tutor for writing! With his help, I went from being insecure about writing to genuinely enjoying it.
At my current job as an entomology researcher I have to write a lot of proposals and reports. My team lead was so impressed by the first report I had written, he immediately told the director about my writing skills. Without Camille, I daresay that would not have happened!I highly recommend Camille’s mentoring. He supported me during my Master’s thesis, greatly improving the structure, hypotheses, and statistical analysis, while also boosting my confidence throughout the process.
I have had the pleasure of working closely with Dr. Camille Le Roy for several years, both as a postdoctoral researcher in my lab and during his PhD, where I served as co-advisor.
Camille is an outstanding scientist and an exceptionally skilled writer. He approaches scientific writing with clarity, precision, and a systematic mindset, which makes him an excellent mentor.
Camille is patient, organized, and highly supportive, qualities that make him a trustworthy and effective academic coach. He has a deep understanding of how to structure (scientific) arguments and communicate complex ideas in a clear and compelling way. I strongly recommend Camille to anyone seeking guidance in (academic) writing.View more recommendations
