Being an ex-high school student, I know very well the classic modus operandi of teachers (especially in maths) which can prove to be incompatible with a good part of the students, my method which stems from my experience as an autodidact consists discussing prerequisites and take the time to understand the basic elements of the course and then build a deeper understanding through the manipulation of objects and concepts through examples and exercises of increasing difficulty so as not to rush or intimidate the student too much, to finally build a cognitive confidence that will allow the student to calmly approach exam subjects or even evolve independently in the subject of the course.
