I am a student from Trinity College Dublin, but originally from the United States. Although I am a history student, I have two years of experience in economics classes along with taking Honours level Math classes in secondary school while achieving high marks.

The first step in my lessons would be to understand the student and try to form future lesson plans around their needs and learning style. It is much more important, in my opinion, to create the a plan tailored to the students rather than a hard teaching style. Overall though, I would teach by going slowly, step by step, through concepts and example problems. From personal experience, I understand how frustrating it can be for teachers to quickly go over concepts leaving some students in the dark and then having to pick up from there. I would first show the student how to solve the problem, step by step to ensure they understand why these decisions were made, then I would solve the next question with them in tandem; finally then leaving them to solve a set of questions by themselves. I would then go over all of the questions with them and if they got any questions wrong, understand why they themselves made those decisions to help them realize their own mistakes and improve upon them.
