About Jakub
Hey I'm Jakub. I'm a first year college student studying A-Level Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths. At GCSEs I achieved twelve grade 9s (including maths and extended maths), and am now predicted A* in maths and further maths.
Despite my capable academics, I am by no means naturally gifted - and have had many moments where I have been absolutely clueless on topics. I enjoy the process of gradually gaining a deeper understanding of a topic, and being able to pass on this understanding to others.
I have been tutoring GCSE maths for 6 months now (but I am happy to tutor any lower key stages too). I have helped various types of students, from those at a lower ability, to high achieving students who tend to slack off.

My lessons tend to follow a similar format each time. They are an hour and a half, starting off with a bigger picture introduction and recaps from previous lessons, followed by scaffolding the new topic until the student is able to confidently answer exam questions and understands the concept in the bigger picture of mathematics.
Of course, I adjust the ratios between explaining and asking questions, as well as change the pace at which the difficulty progresses depending on the student. As I get to know them better, I pick up on little cues until eventually the teaching becomes very efficient.
