About Calum

My name is Calum, a current university student, with a passion for all things academic. I am a joint honours student - I am studying Law and French. I have showed an unrelenting devotion to my studies and I want to share this with other students too. Being able to study effectively and take apart a subject area is a skill that is mastered over time however, when you acquire this skill, you become truly unstoppable. So let's endeavour to gain a wider understanding of different languages, humanities or STEM subjects together!

About the lesson

My lessons would be tailored to your specific needs as students. I know when I was going through both my GCSE and later A-Level study, that certain areas were more challenging than others. Sessions could be one to two hours long, as I feel that anything longer than this would prove less beneficial. Whilst, I haven't formerly been awarded the title of 'tutor' before, I have participated in many school and sixth form programmes, helping students in lower year groups or 'ability sets' . These sessions have always proven successful: with many of the students I helped achieving one or two grades higher than they were without them.

All of my GCSEs were under the new grading system of 9-1 were I achieved seven qualifications at grade 9 (English Language, English Literature, Biology, French, German, Mathematics and Geography) and two qualifications at grade 8 (Chemistry and Physics). I then completed my A-Level study in Law, French and Mathematics, achieving A,A,B respectively. I also undertook an Extended Project Qualification (more commonly know as the EPQ) achieving an A*. I would be happy to help in any of these subject areas on request (GCSE or A-Level) but would like to say that my expertise lies in my A-Level options.

Learning a language is a practical skill that can be achieved through many different vehicles whether this is analysing a podcast or having a conversation surrounding a topic of interest.

Law as a subject area contains some challenging provisions. My main aim in one of these sessions would be to try and unpack the complexities of some of the terminology by applying them to scenario based questions.

Mathematics at GCSE and A-Level is all about reliance on problem solving skills - I would endeavour to help you master these as we work through real life exam questions.
